Poem of the Week: Breakthrough

I mostly post my poetry first on Instagram, (unless it is a patron-exclusive poem). Then, each Sunday here on the blog, I post the poem that has got the most Insta likes.

If you’re on Instagram, let’s follow each other. You’ll find my account Orna Ross.poetry here.

The poems are inspired by photographs, sometimes taken by me, sometimes by others.

My most popular poem on Instagram this week was “Breakthrough”.

This poem was inspired by @fndesignart — I’m obsessed with their fab account.

And now for this week’s poem:

Breakthrough

Whenever you’re feeling stuck,
as if you’re locked within
a glass-like skin,
separated, head to toe,
from where you ache to go,
it’s time to consciously
breathe in,
to turn attention
from the outer ways,
and take some space.

Investigate
your sheath of inner glass:
what it protects,
the self it holds
now on the brink
of change.
Incubate
the love you have
for what you want
to do
Illuminate
creative spirit’s love
for you.

Beneath our glass-eyed wont
to ruminate,
breakthrough awaits.
With love enough,
it swells in place
breathes out,
and snaps its straits.
