Go Creative! Retreat at Rosnaree

A Creative Retreat in an Extraordinary Setting

We are thrilled to welcome you to the Creative Retreat at Rossnaree House, a magnificent country house, working farm, and artist’s studio steeped in history, art, and creative inspiration.

Set on a 200-acre estate, Rossnaree House is set within the legendary bend of the Boyne (Brú na Boinne), which cradles the Neolithic passage graves of Newgrange, Knowth, and Dowth, the oldest and most decorated in Europe, older than the pyramids of Egypt and aligned to the solstice sun.

A House of Art, Literature, and Mystery

The house itself is home to Maud Gonne’s granddaughter, artist Aisling Law.

Aisling’s mother, Imogen Stuart, was a renowned sculptor (read more), as was her father, Ian Stuart. Her grandmother was father was the writer and scholar, Iseult Gonne, Maud Gonne’s daughter, who married controversial writer, Francis Stuart (read more).

The house is full of literary and artistic associations, unusual artefacts, and striking artwork, making it a unique and inspiring setting for our retreat.

And the landscape is saturated with mythology from ancient Irish tales of Celtic gods, warriors, and bards.

So whether you're sitting by the fire in Rossnaree’s grand rooms, wandering the grounds overlooking the River Boyne, standing in the shadow of a 5,000-year-old monument, or absorbing creative talks, exercises, and discussions, you’ll be surrounded by an atmosphere that has inspired generations of artists, writers, and visionaries.

And with your backing of our Kickstarter, you are helping to see Maud Gonne honored with a long-overdue statue in Dublin town–which makes you a very good person! Thank you so much.

Food: A Thoughtful, Organic, and Locally Sourced Feast

Meals will be prepared by Aisling and her daughter, Iseult, using fresh, organic ingredients from local sources. The survey will ask you to choose between a meat or fish menu for the weekend, and between a a vegetarian or vegan menu if that's your preference. Please also use the survey to inform us of any allergies.

Aisling’s note on the menu:
“We don’t serve salmon at Rossnaree—not since King Cormac choked on a bone in these parts, in the 4th century! But we will be serving delicious meals made with care, using the best of local produce. For example: Fish poached in charred tomato broth, Beef Stroganoff with buttery celeriac and potato mash, Mushroom and sesame roll with a salsa verde served with mixed leaves, roasted pumpkin seeds, pomegranate, and organic roasted vegetables

We can’t wait to welcome you for this unforgettable creative treat! (Next time, the schedule and transportation details)
