Good Morning

The light of the sun
is spreading
over the sea
across the fields
down by the rivers
around the town,

creeping into
the cracks in rocks
the veins in leaves
the pores in skin,

sliding under
the slits
in the lids
of eyes
tugging at
sinew in its silent way,
to say:

“Wake up
come out
of your sleeping
and lying.”

Announcing:
“I am here: a new day.
A new day.
A new day.”
