Please join me in congratulating this week's #IndiePoetryPlease Contest Winner: Ashe Kaye (@afkayewrites), and their winning entry – When the House Creaks 🏆
When the House Creaks
I am Forget Me Not's and "honey, suckle on these hips" like your tongue could carve a home in my womb if I am desperate enough. I love the way you turn me inside out, but hate the way you leave in the morning. I am a blurry reflection, wiping steam from the medicine cabinet mirror, asking myself "what do you see when you are looking back at me?" The walls are heavy with conversations I forgot to have with you. I buried them under the paint at the only place we ever called home, And when I'm scrubbing, loving your touch from my skin, I ignore the blood dripping from the ceiling. Home was just a dream until you came along.
