'My Only Answer'

Don’t tell me you are just an accident 

who chanced to stumble into life, 

to trip across another accident called me. 




Don’t you know that we were invited 

here by the great night, 

brought into visibility to carry forth 

its enigma, for a time, 

in human form, as offering? 




Can’t you feel how it feels 

to wash out each other’s wounds, 

smooth the sacred, secret salve 

into our skins, soothing the dazzle 

and dirt of the said and done?




When the edge of the worldly world 

has grazed us a little too often,

or flicked forward to cut down deep,

let us waken again to the wonder 

of our wonder world within. 




Oh my love, to all the sore 

and shrouded questions I am asked 

by the bruised mystery of life, 

you are my only answer.
