POETRY: Allowing Now – Mindfulness Poetry. Inspirational Poetry 3

£3.99£25.00

If you’re a fan of Maya Angelou, John O’Donoghue, Mary Oliver, or the ancient wisdoms of Rumi or Kabir, you’ll find poems to inspire in Allowing Now.

This book of mindfulness poetry is alive to the teachings offered by the smallest life moment. It calls us into the loving majesty of the present moment and celebrates its power to tell us what we most need to know, and give us what we most need to receive.

Here you’ll find poems about birth and rebirth, passion and perfection, and magical, lyrical, mystical power of poetry itself. Lyrical and dramatic, considered and sometimes playful, some are formally arranged, but most are free verse. All aim to remind us to live openly and freely, as conscious witnesses to creative flow.

In a short introduction, the poet says she see her work as loving, in words, all the incarnations of the world. So these poems do not shy from life’s challenges but explore, with often startling clarity, the mysteries of daily experience. With humour and kindness they suggest how we can reach out to others from that place of presence.

And thus enable the everyday to become a treasury of creative connections.

... for goodness knows,
we are all as welcome
as we ever were, here,
in the holy hold of now.

‘Allowing Now,’ is an exhilarating and thought-provoking selection of poems that speak to soothe the heart and settle the disquieted mind. The brilliance in selected imagery is evocative and pulsating, whisking the reader into the moment — the now of each word and every line. The poet’s introduction to the collection offers insight on mindfulness allowing for layered interpretations of her poems. Orna Ross has certainly rekindled my joy in celebrating the natural world, landscapes, the sacred, and the individual, in refreshing the soul with her ability to craft words and poetic lines that sing, dance and tell a story of hope and wonderment — connecting events and a sense of place. A keepsake collection to return to for mindful contemplation.

Allowing Now is not just a collection of good poetry. It is an exercise in wellness. It is not programmatic in any way, but its intentionality both provides space for, and evokes imagery of those everyday mundane glimpses of profound beauty that are typically overlooked, overrun, and driven past.
Slow down. Breathe deeply. Read a poem.

Orna Ross’s book ‘Allowing Now’; A Book of Mindfulness Poetry is a collection of moments of presence, periods of inspiration and insight, and clear, deep observations of beauty and value in the everyday and the extra-ordinary.
It is the kind of book one will keep close, perhaps by the bedside, for dipping and delighting and drawing calm, joy and solace in our hectic world where allowing ‘what is’ can be a challenge.
Great appreciation for your talent and dedication, Orna, may there be many moments of mindfulness and a multitude of beautiful, carefully crafted poems.
