This Sunday’s poem of the week is: Breakthrough

I write and publish my poetry first on Instagram. Then on Sundays, I post the poem that received the most likes or comments here on my blog. Below is my most popular Instagram poem this week, “Breakthrough”.

Enjoy!

Breakthrough

Whenever you’re ’re feeling stopped,
as if you’re locked
within a skin of glass,
held back from where
you long to go,

it’s time to consciously
breathe in,

to turn attention
from the outer ways,
and take some space to play.
Investigate the inner glaze,
what it keeps safe.
Explore the self it holds in place,
now on the brink of change.
Illuminate creative spirit’s
love for you.
Support its drive
towards what you want to do.

Then let it be. Step back and wait.
Beneath our glass-eyed wont to ruminate,
breakthrough prepares.
With rest and play, it swells in place,

breathes out,
and snaps its straits.
