This Sunday’s poem of the week is: The Way of the Womb

I write and publish my poetry first on Instagram. Then on Sundays, I post the poem that received the most likes or comments here on my blog. Below is my most popular Instagram poem this week, “The Way of the Womb”.

Enjoy!

The Way of the Womb

The people are shaken,
weakened by disease.
Now there is war
in the east. Floods
to the south. Division
all through the west.
Fear stalks our belligerent
bomb-ridden world.

Can we let war’s thunder
be our awakening?
A mindfulness bell.
A new seed, released.
A catalyst.

What threatens us can
become our strength,
if we know what we want,
and what’s wanting.

No man power can save us from this.
No war words can keep us safe here.
No leader can make us whole now.

Listen.
Listen to the silent earth
echo in you.
Listen.

Let your longing for peace
lead you to the way
of the womb.

Nurture the embryo
of truth in you.
Expand out and feel in,
into the swelling belly.
Nourish a new kind of being.

As the pains gather,
insistent,
be the meaning
delivered
from impregnation
accepted.

Cry, as you must
(every birth is a death)
but bear down
bear down
bear down.

Then, arms out,
shut up and love.
